We begin with his life as the son of a wealthy planation owner and continue with the young man as he attempts to enter the political world. The abrupt cancelation of Fidel's congressional bid sent the young man into a tailspin. The attack on the Moncada barracks, the crossing on the Granma from Mexico and his guerrilla war in the Sierra Maestras are all discussed in detail.
