Welcome to season 3 of Empires, Anarchy & other Notable Moments!  This episode serves as an introduction to the early history of the French peoples.  Topics covered in this episode include the Gallic wars of Julius Caesar, the Merovingians, and Charlemagne's Carolingian empire.  It finishes with a look at modern day French power in the world - including a very brief history of their involvement in 20th century wars and their successful use of soft power in the 21st century.
