Mao Zedong Part I: His Rise to Power
This is the first episode in a series of six episodes regarding Chinese dictator Mao Zedong. Topics in this episode include details regarding the Chinese dynastic cycle, the century of humiliation and the rise of the Republic of China, Mao's early family life, his schooling, and his introduction to Marxism among other theories. Events will be examined to explain how they contributed to Mao's rise to power and the formation of his personality cult. The material in this podcast serves as an introduction to the International Baccalaureates' Paper two topic 10 - Authoritarian States (20th century).
