Leonardo Da Vinci Part IV: The Curious Case of Leonardo's Friends

This is the fourth in a series of five episodes on the original Renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci.  This episode covers the year that our artist spent with Niccolo Machiavelli and Cesare Borgias.  This period would go on to serve as the inspiration for Machiavelli's seminal work on Power, "The Prince."  Borgias, the corrupt son of one of the history's most corrupt Popes, is an odd choice for Da Vinci, whose fame had now spread beyond the borders of the Italian city-states.  We'll examine the artists' thought process as well as the infamous banquet of chestnuts and the spread of syphilis across the peninsula.

This is the third in a series of five episodes on the original Renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci.  This episode covers a number of the side-projects pursued by the artist.  This includes his habits of human dissection, his sleep patterns, and optic studies.  Each would inform his work.  Art discussed in this episode includes the last supper, Il Cavallo, the Vitruvian Man, and Madonna of the Yarnwinder.   We also look at Leonardo's relationship with two other 'geniuses' of the time: Michelangelo and Raphael.

Leonardo Da Vinci Part I: A Golden Age of Bastards

This is the first in a series of five episodes on the original Renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci.  This episode dives into the conditions that resulted in the Italian Renaissance as well as Leonardo's dubious birth status, both of which combined to lay the foundation for the one of the greatest artists of all time.  We also explore his time as an apprentice in Verrocchio's studio, including his controversial work on The Baptism of Christ as well as Leonardo's sexuality, a subject that was at the heart of Sigmund Freud's biography of the man.

Australia Part I: Kill the Rabbit

This is the first of two episodes which attempt to explore Australia's unique environmental challenges.  In this outing, we examine the ecological disaster that came with the introduction of the European Bunny Rabbit, an invasive specie in the land down under.  We'll explore the introduction of the furry creature, their effect on the environment, and the absurd lengths that Australia has gone towards eradicating the cute, but foul beast.  Along the way, we'll examine the colonial origin of modern Australia, the beginning of organized policing, and an ongoing war with the environment.

Matilda Part IV: The Warrior

This is the fourth and final episode in a series which details the life and legacy of England's uncrowned Queen Matilda.  The crown has just been usurped, but Matilda remained defiant, waging a war for the crown.  Although, she didn't literally wield a sword, Matilda was integral to the war effort - resulting in one of history's most dramatic escapes as well as a few blunders that ultimately cost her the title of 'the first Queen of England.'

Matilda Part I: The Empress of Germany

This is the first of four episodes in a series which details the life and legacy of England's uncrowned Queen Matilda.  This first episode sets the stage for her political rise after she is engaged and wedded to the German Holy Roman Emperor.  In Germany, she hones the political skill which she will put on display for the whole world to see when the patriarchy of England steals her rightful throne from her; setting the stage for the historical events which would later be used to create HBO's House of the Dragon.
